IGEM House has opened its doors to the public, inviting them to come and see the facilities its conference centre has to offer. The first open day was held on 10 August and was the first in a series of three open days planned throughout August. The centre decided to open its doors after previous visitors commented that seeing the centre first-hand left them in no doubt that IGEM House would be their venue of choice for events.

IGEM House has three contemporary conference rooms, a traditional Boardroom and two smaller meeting rooms which are all available for hire. All rooms are newly refurbished, offering natural daylight and modern facilities. With a variety of breakout areas, including the Sir Denis Rooke Library which contains information on the gas industry, staff at IGEM House can tailor every event to your requirements.

Based in the Derbyshire village of Kegworth, IGEM House is centrally located for easy access from the motorway network, East Midlands Airport and East Midlands Parkway train station. This makes it accessible for 80% of UK businesses, who can reach this modern venue in less than two hours.

What sets this venue apart from its competitors is its contemporary, fresh feel and the first-class service provided by IGEM House staff. It is their attention to detail and willingness to exceed clients’ expectations that keeps clients coming back time-after-time. This was a big part of what visitors experienced at the open day as staff were on hand to give guided tours of the facilities, answering any questions along the way.

The centre’s flexibility is proven by its ability to host events for clients from many different industries, whether this is a meeting for two people or a conference for 160 delegates. Julie Adcock, Conference Host at IGEM House, said: “Today’s open day will undoubtedly encourage more companies to join our rapidly growing portfolio of clients”.

Sales Manager Steve Springthorpe also commented that: “The open days are an ideal opportunity for visitors to experience first-hand why IGEM House is regarded by its clients as the premier venue of choice to hold events”.

IGEM House is hosting two more open days on Tuesday 17 and Thursday 26 August and invites you to come and experience what they have to offer. You can be assured of a warm welcome and a relaxed tour of one of the East Midland’s newest and most exciting venues.

To register for an open day or for more information call Steve Springthorpe on 01509 678160.

IGEM (Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers) has today unveiled its new headquarters and conference centre, IGEM House, with an official opening ceremony by its President EurIng Robert J Murray. Based in the Derbyshire village of Kegworth, IGEM House is centrally located for easy access from the motorway network, East Midlands Airport and the newly opened East Midlands Parkway train station.

IGEM purchased the building for £1.1 million in September 2008 and has spent several months refurbishing the building at a cost of around £600,000 to ensure that it is suitable for both IGEM staff and Members. IGEM was previously based in a rented office building in Loughborough so has not moved far and has not lost any staff as a result.

As well as providing ample office space for the 18 members of staff, IGEM House also has three contemporary conference rooms and a traditional Boardroom, which are available for hire. For members of the Institution, IGEM House also provides a members’ room for smaller, more informal meetings, and access to the Sir Denis Rooke Library which contains a vast amount of information on the gas industry.

IGEM’s President EurIng Robert J. Murray CEng FIGEM, a well respected figure in the gas industry and Group Engineering Director for Inexus Group, said: “Having been involved in the relocation process since IGEM’s move to Loughborough in 2003, it is with a great deal of pleasure that I see a headquarters building that exceeds our expectations and delivers a platform for growth and development of the IGEM brand into the future. I would like to sincerely thank the IGEM HQ Property Team for their hard work in finding and securing this building, in particular Alex McDiarmid, Chairman of the team, and John Williams, Chief Executive Officer.”

John Williams also commented: “After six years of searching and investigation, it is an absolute delight to move into IGEM’s new headquarters and conference centre bringing the whole IGEM team with me. The team have been truly tremendous in their endeavour and professionalism right the way through this process and are now operating in an environment that they have been engaged in designing and have enjoyment working in.”
